Since its launch in 2002, the consortium has developed and promoted new concepts that are now integrated with industry practices: integrated management of the value chain, collaborative business planning, management mechanisms for demand and revenues, etc.

Mission

FORAC research consortium, a strong partnership between forest products industry stakeholders (Université Laval, companies and governments), aims to be a Canadian and an international standard reference recognized for its achievements and collaboration dynamics. In order to improve the canadian forest and bio-based product industry competitiveness, the consortium designs, develops and validates business models, methods and decision-support technologies for the design and management of innovative value creation networks in a sustainable development perspective.

Teachers, students and professionals perform quality research in partnership with members in an interdisciplinary university setting.

The consortium acheives its mission based on the following fundamental values: excellence, networking, relevance and communication. FORAC thus offers its partners the development of advanced knowledge and solutions, the transfer and the training of highly qualified personnel in the field of business engineering applied in the context of the forest products industry.

 

Objectives

FORAC research consortium is working to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Study, develop and test new decision-making methods and technologies, inspired by the principles of Industry 4.0, for the design and management of the forest value chain, with a perspective of sustainable development;
  2. Train highly qualified personnel in skills areas that reflects the needs of the industry;
  3. Contribute to the advancement of companies working in the forest and bio-based products industry;
  4. Share research results with industry, governments, scientific community and society.
